Our Story

    Creswick Open Range farm was founded in 2017 by Boyd & Rueben Carmody.

    We only run chickens on our farm and our brood consists of 4,000 Hyline hens. Of course, there is also our team of our Maremma dogs and alpacas to help with security.

    We’ve been supplying eggs to our loyal customers for close to a decade now, and look forward to continuing to do so for many decades to come.

    Starting out with just a few hens scratching around on a much smaller property in Gordon, our hobby has transformed into a thriving family business venture.

    The leap from backyard egg producers to farming on a commercial scale has been a challenging yet rewarding journey for our passionate and enthusiastic team.

    Quick facts

    • Our farm is protected by permanent 6 foot high electric fencing, all powered by electricity generated by our on property solar system.

    • Our girls can eat and drink when they please – there are no set meal times at our farm! They have 24 hour access to feed, water and of course freedom.

    • Our security team is solid! We have our team of Maremma dogs, our alpaca Frank and of course the added protection of the electric boundary fence.

    • No need for competition here. Our acreage is for our hens, and our hens only.

    • Our eggs are soy and corn free

    • We believe in quality feed. We only buy the best there is to buy. No shortcuts, ever. Feeding our girls the best results in the best eggs.

    • Nothing to hide here! We are very active on our social media accounts so you can always see what’s going on at the farm. We list our farm address on Google Maps so please make sure you keep an eye our for our girls the next time you are passing by.

    • We really do rate our eggs, so do our customers and the top chefs that we supply to. What’s that saying, when you are onto something great stick with it!
